A Harley-Davidson is built to be ridden—but regular care is essential to keep it looking its best.
Road salt, grime and moisture can cause corrosion if left to build up, especially around chrome, fasteners and hard-to-reach areas.
The key is the right clean-and-protect routine: remove contaminants safely, dry the bike thoroughly and apply protection to exposed surfaces.

Here’s how to give your ride the full treatment.
THE ROUTINE:

Let it cool
Never spray cold water onto a hot engine or exhaust.

Pre-rinse
Loosen grit using gentle water pressure. Avoid spraying directly at bearings, seals, electrics, instruments and air intakes. -
Apply Cleaner
Spray Bike Wash motorcycle cleaner over the bike and allow the formula to break down the grime. Don’t let it dry. -
Agitate gently
Use a microfibre mitt on painted surfaces and soft brushes on tougher areas. Soak stubborn bugs instead of scrubbing harder. -
Rinse thoroughly
Using a hose or Muc-Off Pressure Washer, work from top to bottom until all the cleaner is gone. -
Dry completely
Use a Luxury Microfibre Polishing Cloth or It Blows! Precision Air Blaster XL to remove standing water. Pay extra attention to engine fins, fasteners and crevices. -
Protect exposed metal
Apply Protect & Shine to suitable exposed metal surfaces, including the frame and fasteners. Avoid brakes, tyres, grips, controls and other contact surfaces. -
Finish the paintwork
Spray a thin layer of Speed Wax onto gloss paint, allow it to haze and buff it off to reveal an epic shine. For matte paint, use Matt Surface Detailer to maintain that flat, stealthy finish. -
Check the drivetrain
Most Harley-Davidson's use a belt drive, so there’s no need for chain lube. If yours has a chain, clean and lubricate it with a suitable product.

- Leaving the bike to drip-dry
