Buriram, Thailand – Round 1 | MotoGP 2026

New season. Fresh start.

The 2026 MotoGP World Championship kicked off in the brutal heat of Buriram, Thailand — and Jorge Martín didn’t waste a second showing he’s here to scrap at the front.

Round 1 is where statements are made. And Thailand? That’s no gentle warm-up. High humidity. Scorching track temperatures. Heavy braking zones that punish the front end. If your package isn’t ready, it shows immediately.

Jorge Martín and Aprilia looked ready.

Saturday: Sprint Points on the Board

Qualifying was tight — razor-thin margins, just 0.3 seconds off teammate Marco Bezzecchi’s benchmark lap. Jorge secured P5, putting himself right in the fight.

The Sprint Race delivered the usual elbows-out chaos, and Martín didn’t hold back. Aggressive when it mattered. Smart when it counted. He brought it home in P5, banking early championship points and proving the pace is real in 2026.

No settling in. Straight into the battle.

Sunday: Race

An epic battle between Martín, Pedro Acosta and Marc Marquez became one of the standout moments of the race, with the trio exchanging positions in a high-intensity scrap that had fans locked in.

Jorge embraced it.

“In the past, I was a bit afraid to fight… but after seeing yesterday’s race, today I was ready for action with them.”

He went bar-to-bar with two of the toughest competitors on the grid — and didn’t flinch.

“I was able to fight head-to-head with Marc and Pedro again. It’s never easy to battle with them. After yesterday’s race, I could predict certain moves — especially at Turn 12 — and I played my cards right.”

Tyre management in those conditions? Critical.

“I managed the tyres really well; it felt like the tyres were going to explode with so much spin!”

At the front, Aprilia showed serious intent, locking out four of the top five positions, with Marco Bezzecchi taking the victory.

Jorge Martín crossed the line in P4 — just shy of the podium, but firmly in the fight from lights out to the chequered flag.

Top 5 – Thailand GP 2026

  1. Marco Bezzecchi – Aprilia
  2. Pedro Acosta – KTM
  3. Raul Fernandez – Aprilia
  4. Jorge Martín – Aprilia
  5. Ai Ogura – Aprilia

Four Aprilia's in the top five at the season opener.

That sends a message.

At this early stage of the season, the RS-GP looks like the bike to be on. A seriously competitive package.

Perspective: From Recovery to Contender

What makes this result even more impressive is the journey behind it.

Just weeks ago, Jorge Martín’s focus wasn’t on fighting at the front — it was simply getting back to full strength.

“Two months ago I couldn't even eat alone, and now I'm fourth in the championship. It's crazy.”

“I exceeded my expectations, which were simply to finish the race and use it as physical training… I was able to fight, I enjoyed the first few laps.”

He admits he’s not quite at 100% yet.

“I'm at 95%, but I still have some laps to go.”

And that should worry the rest of the grid.

A Strong Start to 2026

A fourth-place finish at the season opener might not grab headlines like a win — but it sends a clear message.

Looking ahead, Martín remains ambitious:

“This season is still very long. I think when I have everything fully under control, I’ll be able to fight directly against Marco Bezzecchi with equal strength.”

That’s not hope. That’s intent.

At Muc-Off, we back riders who push limits. Who race hard. Who show up ready.

Thailand proved that Jorge Martín is doing exactly that in 2026.

Round 1: points secured.
Message delivered.
Game on.

Next stop, Brazil — Round 2.

Let’s go!
