At Muc-Off, doing the right thing by Mother Earth means doing more. We’ve always loved the world we ride in and always done our bit to protect it, but ‘a bit’ is no longer enough. From plastics to PTFE, packaging to partnerships, we’re doubling down, getting greener, now and forever.
We call it Project Green. It’s all about ‘sustainability built in’. Responsibility as standard. Commitment? Non-negotiable! It’s more than just a strapline, it’s a way of thinking and most importantly, doing. And it certainly ain’t about ticking boxes. We’ve put our planet front and centre of our operations – just as it should be.
Examples? In 2019, we pledged to save 30 tonnes of plastic by 2023, and right now, in July 2021, we’ve already saved an epic 94 tonnes. Ten years ago, we launched in-store refill stations. Take-up was slow, but now they’re booming. Times are changing as the clock counts down. People are getting wise.
Innovation is our DNA: the relentless pursuit of progress. It’s how we develop chain lubricants to win Olympic titles and the Tour de France. For Project Green, we’re going even bigger. How do we optimise every process, every product, every package to reduce our footprint? Marginal gains for the planet.
Plastic is a fact of life, so how do we minimise its impact? Scrap single usage. Source better qualities. Minimise unsustainable packaging and processes. Harmful chemicals? Remove PTFE from every formula. Make flagship products like MO94 biodegradable. Build a new lab. Invest in cutting-edge equipment. Hire PhD-certified chemists. Keep improving.
We’re reaching out and throwing our weight behind groups like 1% for the Planet and Trash Free Trails. As one of the most recognisable brands in the game, we’ve got a voice, and we’re not afraid to shout loudly on behalf of those we know are doing the right thing.
Most of all, we need the Muc-Off collective alongside us: Customers and dealers, suppliers and wholesalers. Roadies and trail hounds. Adrenaline addicts and athletes. IBDs and industry big dogs. Project Green is an open invitation to every supplier, every retailer, and every cyclist who chooses Muc-Off to enhance their ride.
Project Green is about education, not preaching. It’s about sharing lessons from our lab, through products for real-world riders. It’s about getting our dealers and suppliers as hyped as we are on the possibilities of green tech and clean innovation. Most of all, it’s about recognising that sustainability means forever, as no environmental program should ever have an end goal.
Project Green needs warriors. People stoked by the world they ride in, as much as by the ride itself. We’re driven to do everything we can and there’s too much at stake to do less.
