Before the weather turned for the worst, Coty Schock stormed to victory in the 450 Wildcard heat race, ripping the holeshot and never looking back at Round 1 of the SuperMotocross Playoffs. In front of a packed Charlotte crowd at zMAX Dragway, the Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha rider put on a commanding performance that secured his spot in the night’s 450 mains.
From Wildcard to Main Event
Just missing out on a seeded SMX spot by a mere three points, Coty had to fight his way in through the Wildcard LCQ. In true Coty fashion, he wasted no time — grabbing the start, setting the pace, and never looking back. His decisive ride earned him a place in the night’s 450 mains and showcased the same firepower that carried him through a breakthrough 2025 season.
Building on a Breakout Year
This year has been all about momentum for Coty. His eight Supercross top-ten finishes, including a memorable podium in Arlington, proved he belongs among the sport’s elite. That form carried outdoors with another five top tens and some lightning-fast holeshots against the best in the world. More than results, though, Coty’s consistency — lining up for every moto all season long — highlights the strength of his training and the dedication of the entire Muc-Off/ClubMX program.
Home Turf Energy
A true hometown race for the team, Charlotte made this round even more special. With zMAX Dragway just over an hour from the ClubMX facility, we were pumped to have so many friends and family come out to support. The energy was electric, fueling Coty’s performance and giving the local crowd plenty to cheer about.
Race Day Challenges
Coty started the day on fire, ripping the holeshot and winning the Wildcard race to punch his ticket into the mains. In Moto 1, he grabbed another great start, but a small crash set him back, ultimately finishing 18th overall on the day. Unfortunately, heavy weather meant Moto 2 was cancelled, cutting short his chance to bounce back. Still, the momentum heading into Round 2 is strong, and Coty is hungry to battle at the front in St. Louis.
Vohland’s Consistency Shines
Meanwhile, teammate Max Vohland showed grit and determination in the 250 class. After a tangle off the start, Max fought his way back to P12 on the day, securing 8th overall in the SMX Championship standings. His resilience and consistency continue to reflect the hard work he and the team have put in all season long.
Eyes Forward
Round 1 is in the books, but the journey is only just beginning. As the SMX Playoffs head next to St. Louis before the Las Vegas finale, Coty carries momentum, confidence, and belief. With his proven starts and relentless pace, there’s every reason to be excited about what’s next.
